So Exciting!

Here is it! Our new stove was delivered Wednesday afternoon and it's great! Jon's cooked on it twice, I heated my soup on it for lunch today, and depending on the weather, I may bake cookies in it tomorrow!!

Now I'm off to find cough medicine for Braden. He sounds like he's trying to cough up a lung in his bed! :) Good night all!

He's all better now....

But Sunday morning Braden woke me up early with a fever. It wasn't too high, but he was achy and whiny most of the day. After Ryan went home, this was how Braden spent the next few hours:

And because there is safety in numbers, Daddy took a little snooze on the floor!

Birthday!

Here is the cake Braden drew with the Crayola Washable Window Makers he got from Grandma and Grandpa. Yes, there are nine candles!

Here is the chocolate ice cream cake he picked out at DQ.

I love the big cheeks and kool-aid moustache!

And later that evening, Braden and Ryan could be seen from this angle and they played PS2.

Because of basketball on Saturdays, and because the hotel was booked, we are going to have Braden's "party" in March. We are going to Castaway Bay at Cedar Point. It's a hotel with an indoor waterpark! We'll go up on a Saturday and return on Sunday. Braden gets to invite one friend to come along and I need to get in some sort of bathing suit shape before then.... not that I've made any efforts yet!

Dallas Loves to Share

.....other people's food!

Here are several shots of Dallas (sitting up like a big girl.... or like a prairie dog) and Jon enjoying a frozen Raspberry Fruit Chiller.

Of course Braden had to sneak into a least one shot! He thought I wouldn't notice him, since he's wearing a camo shirt!

Can You Believe.....

that on Saturday, Jon and I will be the proud parents of a nine-year-old? I know! It amazes me too!
In other news, this is part of an e-mail I received from drdino.com (Creation Science Evangelism):
Thirty-five years ago this week, America joined the ranks of nations engaging in the genocide of its own people. In 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court launched an all-out assault, this time not on a religious or ethnic group, but on victims with no voice, no defense, and no allies. It marks the day that, under the pretense of privacy, the womb became an unfair battlefield for the unborn.
America often mourns the horror of September 11, 2001 when nearly three thousand lives were tragically taken, yet keeps silent as more than four thousand lives are stolen each day through this evolution-influenced terrorism called abortion. We protest the casualties of war—yet turn our heads away from the 50 million innocent victims of Roe v. Wade. As Christians continue to stand on the sidelines, the Bible is unwavering; God ordained each of us in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5). Christians, it’s time to take a stand –it’s time for a change.f privacy, the womb became an unfair battlefield for the unborn.

I Can't Believe It

I just read online that Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in a NYC apartment.

"WOW!" is the only thing I can think to say right now.

10 Things is one of my favorite movies and Braden can watch A Knight's Tale over and over again.

He was only 28 yrs. old. What a tragic ending. I hope it's not discovered to have been suicide.

The Kiddies

Here are two pics of the kids from last week.
Dallas doesn't make anyone share their food with her. She just strongly suggests it by sitting so close you can't ignore her!
In other news:
---I currently feel pretty crappy. I'm tired because I didn't sleep well last night. Why? Because my head feels like it's about to explode under the pressure and my nose is attempting to run away. From the neck up, I'm very blah!
---Saturday, we went to dinner in Lima and then shopping. I'm very excited to report that I racked up at Old Navy! All sale items were an additional 50% off. I bought 19 items that originally totaled $450 for only $100.... and I had a $25 gift card. Even better!
---It is SO COLD here! I haven't been warm in a week! My fingertips are frozen!

Finally, Some Pictures!

I've always said, "It hasn't been a really good day if your child comes home clean."
Well, today I found out the truth of that statement. Upon opening the car door, Braden said, "Mom, I had a great day today!!"

I smelled him before I saw exactly what he meant. He was absolutely covered in disgusting!! And I had to drive him home! --- But it does look like he and Ryan had a great time at recess, doesn't it?

***Immediately following these pictures, he was stripped down and the filth you see was put into the washing machine***

As Stolen from Amanda's Blog:

The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer...
AND Lazarus was dead!

NOW, WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?!

From worst to the best

On Thursday, you may remember, I had the worst day of the year. Well, on Saturday, I had the best day of the year (kind of).

Saturday morning, as I was walking into the Y for Braden's basketball game, the Exmans were arriving as well. (Our neighbors. Lesa works with me at preschool.) Lesa informed me that when she was asking Bailey what she wanted to bring to school on her birthday (which is the same day as Braden's. They are just 2 yrs apart.), Bailey told her she wanted to bring the cookies I made at Christmas!!!! How great did that make me feel! ---- And Grandma Kathy, you should feel awesome as well. It was your recipe! ---- I baked cut-out cookies twice over Christmas and brought some to them both times. They all LOVED them! And Jon Exman's mom even said she'd pay me for them! And asked if I sold them to other people. WOW! I'm still pretty pumped about the whole thing.
I told Bailey if she would come over and pick out cookie cutters, I would be honored to bake cookies for her class. (No pressure!)

And Braden's team won their game, 8-6. Yes, that was the score for the basketball game!

What Do You Think?

I thought I would try the Look-Alike Meter RyAnn had on her blog.

Check out my results.

How accurate is this technology? Or should I try again with different photos?

Worst Day of 2008

Yes, today has won the award for the worst day of the year. Not too hard to do, seeing as how the year is only ten days old. But still.........
1. Braden woke up grouchy and therefore, we were running a little behind schedule.

2. I didn't have time to eat breakfast and had to make do with a muffin bar and bottle of water.

3. My class was absolutely nuts today. Seriously, I think I even saw a few bounce off the walls! They could not stop talking and could not line up without pushing, shoving, touching, picking, pulling, punching,......

4. I was actually called a name by a four-year-old that would have gotten Braden marched to the bathroom for a squirt of soap in his mouth. YES! You haven't officially had a bad day until you've been cursed at by a preschooler!

Since then, it's been a bunch of little things that aren't really a big deal, but I was already on the edge. I'm praying tomorrow will be a better day. I have a swimming pool and a bunch of shaving cream in my trunk ready for fun!

Hello out there

I have no pictures, but since I haven't updated in a few days, I thought I'd send out a "hello!" (If anyone is out there. No one is posting comments, so I'm not sure if anyone will even notice my lack of posts.)

The big news today: I have pink eye! (again!) My eyes are feeling better now that Jon has put drops in them twice, but the headaches make it hard to focus! ...... and yes, Jon has to hold my head down to get the drops in!

Happy Monday!
