Another Day, Another Rally

Such is the life of those in a swing state, I guess!
Sarah Palin was in Findlay, OH and Troy, OH, and Ft. Wayne. (All 1-2 hrs from here) And today, John McCain was in Defiance, OH. (Jon works there) So.......... Jon was able to get tickets! I had to babysit and was unable to attend. But Braden was able to skip school and go. Huge thank you to Angelo and Layce!
Jon got 4 tickets. He used one. Braden used one. I gave the other 2 to Layce and Angelo. I took their 2 youngest kiddos and gave them Braden. Since I had to babysit another kid, why not add two more!
By the time they all arrived, it doesn't sound like they could see much. Jon lifted Braden up so he could see McCain when he came out. Since it was outdoors, Jon also was able to point out the snipers watching the crowd from rooftops!! Braden thought that was pretty cool! He also got a cup of hot chocolate. And after the rally, he was treated to Pizza Hut by Angelo and Layce. Yum! And despite returning at 1:00, after much begging, he convinced me to let him stay home from school.
I'll post pictures of the trip once Layce sends them to me.
Remember to PRAY FOR THIS ELECTION!!! (I voted on Wednesday)
*** The above picture is the t-shirt I bought at the rally in Findlay. Love it! Wearing it almost daily.

No Parking

Again, my pictures loaded backwards!
Nevertheless, here are pictures the day after Braden's run-in with the street sign. He was down the street playing touch football with some friends. He went to intercept the ball, wasn't looking, and collided with a "no parking" sign in the alley. Hard enough to make him cry in front of the other kids (which he doesn't do!). Poor baby! I could tell something was wrong the minute he walked in the front door.

This is the "Mom! Stop trying to take my picture!" look.
The leg that collided with the sign. It turned a lovely shade of dark blue/purple a few days later!

And his face. Hard to see. He has bruising on the left side of his face: above his eyebrow, on the side of his nose, and on his cheek.
His face looks good as new now, despite his belief that his nose was broken last weekend!

Sarah Palin Rocks!

These didn't load in the correct order for some reason, but........... here are a few pictures from the rally. I don't have time for details now though.
Wow! What an experience!

In the American flag jacket is Lee Greenwood. He surprised the crowd with his presence and by singing the "National Anthem" and "Proud To Be An American" which he wrote in the 80's. He was amazing! (Layce had tears!)

Sarah Palin speaking.

Lee Greenwood singing. Sarah, Todd, and Willow Palin can be seen greeting people on the right. Piper Palin was also there.

Sarah and Todd.

A view of the crowd.

Thanks Layce for sending me these great pictures. I'll post more details later.

The Shiner

I completely forgot to post pictures of the sweet black eye Braden got two Fridays ago! He had been playing football out in the front yard with some friends and ended up running into one of the boys' heads.
It's a little hard to see in the photos, but trust me, you sure notice it in person!

And since it's started to feel like fall, Braden has gotten out his "old man pajamas." I'm not sure why the hat was added to the outfit, but it doesn't seem to bother Dallas. (Brooke, recognize your Harry Potter hat? Thanks so much! He's been sleeping in it too!)

In other news, Braden's team lost yesterday 12-7. And while the should have easily beaten the other team, they didn't.
My only comment is that I wish some people remembered that this is only a game and that these kids are just that, KIDS! 9-12 yr old kids that are going to make mistakes. That's just a part of the learning process. -- that's all I have to say on the subject right now :)
